Position Description:
The day-to-day operations of the Detroit Metropolitan Airport are carried out by a ramp agent. The Ramp Agent provides customer service and flight support services to passengers and crew, including aircraft unloading and loading, marshaling, baggage handling, cabin cleaning, fueling and lavatory servicing, and other duties as assigned. Ensuring safety standards are being met while providing outstanding customer service is what you will be expected to do as a ramp agent. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and multitasking are required of you.
The ideal candidate should be willing to complete a background check and have a valid driver’s license. Knowledge of aviation ground operations, safety protocols and aircraft systems is required. It is desirable to be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
The Federal Aviation Administration, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Airline Transport Association have safety regulations for ramp agents. Before using equipment, it is your responsibility to inspect it for damage or discrepancies. Ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately and promptly and that you give clear instructions to passengers regarding airport procedures. On a daily basis, Ramp Agents are required to lift up to 75 pounds.
